About Dale
The career of composer, performer, teacher, Dale Burton, has encompassed a broad spectrum of musical areas. And her exceptional efforts have been recognized with numerous awards along the way.
Dale is a Canadian, born in Toronto, Ontario. Music became her life at the age of six. Her childhood years were filled with the intense study of piano, theory and singing under the direction of many different teachers in Ontario and Alberta, Canada, and in Florida, U.S.A.
She has a Grade 8 Diploma with Honours in Piano, and in 1985, she received her Grade 2 Diploma with First Class Honours in Music Theory from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Since then she has actively taught music for eighteen years in Calgary and for one year in South America.
Dale has performed, directed and arranged a multitude of musical styles including classical, rock and pop for student recitals and for special events. She currently performs live at a well-known restaurant in Calgary La Dolce Vita.
Dale started writing music when she was 15. She has explored many genres and styles of music in her compositions, and she excels at pop ballads. Her portfolio consists of classical, pop and electronic works. These compositions have frequently been presented in a wide range of live venues.
Dale currently works from her home studio teaching and composing. She is also involved with the Cantos Music Museum and she regularly performs in and around Calgary.
In the future, Dale plans to continue her quest to further expand the use of music education, composition and performance to stimulate the minds and hearts of students, performers and audiences.
